ESDAT for Environmental and Natural
Resources Data Management
|
The Environmental
and Natural Resources System is for site managers who need to collate and
report large volumes of diverse types of environmental data. Methods are
provided to enable easy electronic data receipt from consultants or other
parties working on the site. The data is consolidated into a single
database for time-series or spatial analysis.
It is intended that all environmental data, and related management data will
be stored within the system, and as such, it can accommodate all
Geo-Environmental, Flora Fauna, Land use, and Environmental Management data.
Environmental monitoring
often generates large datasets that are continually
updated. Often electronic copies of the data are in
non-consistent formats and files, meaning that effective
data re-use is difficult and expensive.
ESDAT provides a systematic approach to storing,
managing, analyzing, and reporting this data so it is
stored in a consistent format and is immediately and
easily made available to any party, whether or not they
have an ESDAT license.
Data which needs to be
collected, stored, and analyzed may include (but is not
limited to):
|
Geo-Environmental |
Flora/Fauna |
Land use |
Management |
|
Geological |
Native flora
|
Fire
Occurrences/Management |
Energy and
Resource Usage |
|
Lithological

ESDAT
databases are designed to accommodate data spanning
many investigations, years and investigation types
and can accommodate widely available data exchange
formats. ESDAT can be extended to accommodate any
customizations required. Key issues often
encountered by Environmental Managers are:
Transfer
data between organizations
Investigations are often undertaken by
consultants who need to easily access the
data at the start of an investigation, and
need to submit the data upon completion.
|
Import laboratory, field, and historical
data
ESDAT imports from laboratories, field data
can be entered using a PDA, historical data
can be imported from a variety of typical
formats. |
Internet access to data
ESDAT easily operates on databases stored
over your network or over the internet,
multiple organizations can have restricted
or full access.
|
Data Analysis
ESDAT has a built in GIS interface, with
powerful analysis tools. |
Export
data to
ArcGIS, MapInfo, Surfer, Excel, EVS, WinLoG
and other packages. |
Formatted Chemistry,
General Tables
Chemistry, Geology, Water levels etc. can be
output in any data structure/orientation.
Exceedances of guidelines are indicated in a
variety of formats.
|
Trend
graphs
and reports
Plots any time series data into Excel
(chemistry with environmental standards if
desired).
Identifies trends in a trend analysis
report.
|
Report
Production
Automatically generate factual reports
summarizing all available data as maps,
graphs, tables and flag significant trends,
output to Explorer or Excel. |
Chemical
Quality Assurance
Summarize Field, lab and inter-lab duplicates
with RPD errors, holding time exceedances,
detects in blanks etc. are identified in
Explorer or Excel.
